Disturbing Clarity

Finding someone who celebrates you is entirely underrated. Finding someone who happily kisses all the rough edges and the broken parts of your heart without trying to fix you, that’s love. And that’s what it means to say, “I love you more”. It has been the journey of my life to find myself. I am still on that journey and I hope I always will be. To be an ever-evolving being, with something new to offer the world each time I shed a layer of bitterness I allowed the world to deposit onto my soul: that is the stuff of life.

Maybe I didn’t always know my worth. Maybe you didn’t know yours. There have been times when I hated myself for who I was or how I was; for how I fell short of others’ expectations. But this chapter of my life is for love. See, I’ve set a goal to love myself as much as you love me; a goal that you make it easier to obtain each day that you show me acceptance, respect and tenderness. I will never have regrets for being in this moment, for experiencing the now that is us. And whatever the outcome, right now, I choose peace, solid reciprocal friendship, grace, joy and forgiveness. I choose fancy dinners out with you. I choose the way you love my kids. I choose adventures with you and your children, and the safety and security that I feel when you guide me toward the inside of the sidewalk.
